Jim Greiner Drum Circle for Habitat Restoration

Jim Greiner, a longtime LP artist and clinician, recently conducted a community drumming event to celebrate a Habitat Restoration program at the decommissioned U.S. Army base in Fort Ord, California.

Jim's drum circle brought over 200 volunteers, including children and adults, together to celebrate the planting of over 5,000 native plant seedlings as part of the Monterey Bay Charter School's 4th Annual plant-a-thon.

Jim Greiner conducts interactive rhythm programs worldwide for corporate team building, conference and meeting ice breaking, community events, schools and private celebrations of all types.

at the “Wharf to Wharf” Race in Santa Cruz

Corporate team building drumming expert and long time LP clinician, Jim Greiner, conducted a community drum circle at the start of the Wharf To Wharf Race in Santa Cruz County (California) on Sunday, July 26, 2009. Over 15,000 runners participated in this year's race; it is the 37th year that this annual event has raised funds for area school athletic programs. Over 40 musical groups of all types lined the racecourse to help inspire the runners.

The Wharf To Wharf Race begins at the Santa Cruz Wharf/Beach Boardwalk and winds its way along the scenic Monterey Bay to the Capitola Wharf, starting at the world famous Giant Dipper roller coaster, loops around the Yacht Harbor, through Schwann Lake Wildlife Sanctuary and across ocean bluffs and quaint seaside neighborhoods before dropping down next to the beach in picturesque and historic Capitola Village.

Drumming® Events, conducts award-winning, interactive rhythm programs worldwide for corporate team building, conference ice breaking, and community, school and private groups. This is the 13th year that Jim has conducted the community drumming circle at the start of the event.

Drumming Events at California Festival

LP artist and community drumming leader Jim Greiner recently hosted and performed at an LP co-sponsored drumming event to build community bonds, educate the public about percussion instruments, and raise awareness for community groups.

Jim conducted his drum circle and percussion clinic on the main stage area of the Mushroom Mardi Gras Festival, which was co-sponsored by The Music Tree, a local full-service music store. The festival took place over the Memorial Day Weekend in Morgan Hill, California and drew over 25,000 people per day.

The annual Mushroom Mardi Gras Festival helps raise funds to support local schools and other non-profit organizations. Jim promotes a message of community spirit through his drumming events. The Music Tree owner Darin Dixon enthused, "One of the highlights of the festival was Jim's energy and expertise which amazed everyone there; he really got us rockin'!"

Percussive Arts Society International Convention 2008

Jim Greiner, a longtime LP artist and clinician, was a key participant at this year's Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC). PAS was established in 1961 as a non-profit music service organization to promote percussion education, research, appreciation and performance throughout the world. This year the event was held at the Convention Center and Hilton Hotel in Austin, Texas where Greiner played lead conga at the Welcome Call, the convention's interactive opening ceremony.

Greiner, a leader for LP's Community Drumming program, also facilitated a drum circle. During the event, Jim emphasized the importance of listening, consistent playing, and cooperating with participants while celebrating drum circle traditions. Jim was also a key contributor at the PAS Health & Wellness Panel Discussion. His thorough and insightful philosophy to percussion was discussed, including the importance of effective breathing and playing techniques in order to help prevent injury while playing drums. Greiner also reinforced the importance of proper hand care routines.

Invited by PASIC to launch their first-ever Hand Drum FUNdamentals Clinic, Jim demonstrated some of the basic techniques for playing djembe and conga. He emphasized simple but very effective practice patterns, while reinforcing listening skills and most importantly, players should relax have FUN with percussion! Jim also participated in meetings with LP's Education Committee and the PAS Recreational Drumming Committee. A notable clinician, Greiner demonstrated LP brand instruments throughout the convention.
